When I graduated college from UT Tyler in 1994 I went to work for the Texas State Senate as a Legislative Aide. After working for the State Legislature, I then decided to follow my first love – teaching. I began my teaching career in 2000 and I was a teacher and coach in several districts across east Texas: New Boston, Whitehouse and Harmony. I then decided to work in the area of school administration and accepted a job with Longview ISD as the Director of Communications and Community Relations and after a few years was named Principal of Forest Park Middle School in Longview ISD. Since that time I have served in either Central Office Administration or Campus Administration in Longview, Fort Worth and was fortunate to be named Principal of Gilmer High School in May of 2015. I am about to complete my 6th year as Principal of Gilmer High School.
Married to my wife, Jennifer, and we have four kids: My wife, Jennifer, works for the Business Office at Gilmer ISD; Brooke, my stepdaughter, who is a Registered Nurse in the Austin area. Brooke and her husband Blake, will give us our first Granddaughter in April of 2021! Dylan, a graduate of Gilmer High School, who is a football coach and teacher at Gilmer High School; Cameron, a graduate of Gilmer High School, who completed a Criminal Justice degree at Texas A&M Commerce and has a goal of being a Texas State Trooper; and Cade, who is a 10th grader at Gilmer High School.
